Jozef Pyrz

Sculptor

Paris

Jozef Pyrz was born in Poland. He has been living and working in France for almost thirty years.
Mainly inspired by biblical texts, he succeeds in giving shape to religious themes, bringing us to think about our own behaviours and our society issues.
The way his sculptures are marrying together roughness of life, beauty of love and the movement of time passing by, cannot leave us indifferent.

Resurrection of the Lord

I shall set you free from the letter
I shall relieve you of the book
I shall compel you to live
I shall look for you in the stone-coffins of Egypt
Take you out of the embalmed corpses of mummies
Out of the anonymous Siberian graves
And I shall compel you to live.
I shall draw you away from your dreams
And from your vain desires
From your marvelous idle fancies
I shall compel you to live
Through my love for you
Through your love for me
I’ll bestow the gift of life on you
